Who We Are

Mission:

SafeSpace empowers individuals and communities to achieve safety and freedom from domestic violence.

Vision:

SafeSpace envisions a world free of domestic violence.

SafeSpace, a 501c3 nonprofit organization, is the only state certified domestic violence center saving lives 24/7 and preventing domestic violence throughout the Treasure Coast of Indian River, Martin and St. Lucie counties. It is the local area expert in providing domestic violence services and offers a safe haven to survivors and their children as they seek refuge from physical and emotional abuse.

SafeSpace is much more than just a crisis hotline and an emergency shelter. It empowers people who have experienced domestic violence to become survivors by providing an extensive array of other programs and services, including legal assistance, financial literacy training, emotional and mental health counseling, advocacy, community outreach, and prevention education.

Why We Need Your Support

Help SafeSpace continue to open the door to a future free from violence. Help us stop the cycle of violence and empower survivors to help themselves become independent, self-sufficient and safe.

Domestic violence statistics in the U.S. are staggering.

  • 1 in 3 women and 1 in 4 men have experienced some form of intimate partner violence in their lifetime.
  • Every minute an average of 20 people are abused by intimate partners.
  • 4 women are murdered by their partners every day.
  • Over 12 million people are affected by intimate partner violence every year.
  • Over 15 million children are exposed to domestic violence each year.
  • On an average day, domestic violence hotlines nationwide receive over 20,000 calls.

Since federal, state and local grants only cover about 50% of the agency’s expenses, SafeSpace needs your help to raise the other 50% in order to implement all the much needed programs. You can make a difference in the lives of thousands of women, men and children every year.
