SafeSpace offers interactive activities and programming to children who have witnessed or been the direct victims of abuse within their families. The programs provide the building blocks for children to be safe and develop into healthy, non-violent individuals.
Advocates complete a Youth Risk Assessment with children ages 4-17 years, and a developmental milestone checklist for children ages 1 month to 4 years old. These tools are the basis for a structured service plan addressing the children’s identified needs and is the foundation for their individualized safety plans. This also assists the advocate in making the appropriate referrals to meet the needs of the children.
Child-Safe Weekly Support Group provides children ages 5-17 the knowledge and skills necessary to build a positive self-image, identify safety strategies and techniques, establish personal boundaries, and feel empowered to resolve conflict without using physical aggression or hurtful language.
Family Night encourages healthy parent-child relations through a number of social activities such as movie & popcorn night, ice cream social and other fun events.
